Tuesday

After all the trouble he stirred up cleansing the Temple, Jesus heads back for a day of teaching. He’s quizzed and questioned by the chief priests, scribes, and Pharisees who are looking to trap him into saying something they can use against him. Of course, all attempts to trap him fail.

“When they realized that he had told this parable against them, they wanted to arrest him, but they feared the crowd. So they left him and went away.” Mark 12:12

Surely this must have been an exhausting day. He knew what the end of the week would hold, and he spent his day answering questions, teaching, and ministering in the Temple. As we think about the last days of Jesus life, it’s easy to wonder how we’d spend our own week, if we knew it were our last. Would we spend it ministering to and loving others, the way Christ did? Would we make the very best of our last minutes, telling others about Him? Let’s thank Him today for what He did for us, obedient to the very end.

Lord, as we consider this day in the life of Christ, help us to be mindful to mark our own days. Help us live each day as the precious gift they are. Remind us to love others well as Jesus did. In His Name we pray, Amen.
