150th Anniversary Calendar
AUGUST 22ND
Step back in time to our founding decade, the 1870’s! Bring your horse to church (yes, your horse!) as we remember the trials and successes of those founding families.
AUGUST 29TH
In 1888, our first church building was built and the State Fair of Texas gave its first “Howdy folks!” Come enjoy the sights, sounds, tastes, and smells of the 1880s and 90s!
SEPTEMBER 5TH
Did you know? The World Baptist Alliance was founded in 1905, baseball became America’s pastime, and a sweet treat was invented that consists of fruit and three flavors of ice cream.. can you name it? Come celebrate the 1900's!
SEPTEMBER 12TH
The parachute, the toaster, instant coffee, escalators, zippers... all invented in the 1910s! Hop in your Model T as we look at what was happening in our church as well as the world in the “aughts and 10s.”
SEPTEMBER 19TH
Welcome to the Roaring 20s! We're talking jazz music, radios, telephones, social change, the birth of Sunday School, and Amelia Earhart's famous flight across the Atlantic. What's not to love?!
SEPTEMBER 26TH
We’re sure the 1930s weren’t all bad... but this was the decade of the Great Depression and one of the greatest tragedies in our church’s history. Come see what great work God did despite these trials.
OCTOBER 3RD
We Can Do It! The Billy Graham LA Crusade began in 1948 and ended in 1954, coining the phrase “A Million More In ‘54.” But what about sock hops and Elvis Presley?
OCTOBER 10TH
The rise of The Beatles. The Twist. Sit-Coms. MLK. Apollo 11. Welcome to the 60s!
OCTOBER 17TH
Peace and love, man! The 1970s and 80s were full of some questionable things, but also some great forms of art.
OCTOBER 24TH
The 1990s- the decade we celebrated our church’s 125th anniversary. Let’s party like it’s 1999!
OCTOBER 31ST
What can you say about the 2000s… well, besides the iPhone and other modern technology, the start of the 21st century was an important time in the life of our church!
NOVEMBER 7TH
Join us all day for the biggest celebration of the year! Complete with a morning service, a homecoming celebration, and a meal together, we want this to be a day to remember. We can’t wait to give you all the fun details!
